Pan Roasted Salmon With Indian Spices – Fillets of Salmon marinated with Indian spices and then, roasted in the pan to perfection. That makes a healthy lunch for a lazy and gloomy Saturday
Happy Saturday! It seems Sun is having fun today playing hide and seek. It enters the hallway and when I arrange and adjust my camera settings, he plays with me and hides inside the clouds. And once I change my camera specs to the gloomy day, there he laughs with a big smile and lightens my corner table too with his bright rays. What a mystical play it is! He triggers the mercury at the bottom of my Pressure thermometer. But then, it’s fun. I love his bright smile and sometimes, I love his silence. I love to soak myself in his bright beams. He has been hiding for about a week and I couldn’t see him. Today, he smiled at me and when I blushed, he hides inside those cloudy patches in the dark sky. I know, it is not far that he will come out of his horizon soon, very soon. Yes, we are not far from the Spring. I can’t wait to visit farmer’s market during my weekend mornings, pick up my favorite stone fruits, enjoy glasses of colorful smoothies and finally, load myself with scoops of ice creams. Bring it on.
The mere thought of spring brings me so much joy. When I am in high spirits and being a foodie, my happy hour is preparing and munching my favorites. Yes, my kitchen draws in tantalizing aroma and I throw a party for myself with scrumptious food. Next time, when you sniff such aroma, suit yourself as I will be elated dancing around the kitchen and not forget, will torment you with a plate of my favorite picks. If not, ensure not to enter my home. I might be running around like a headless chicken and might load you with a fair share of my tasks!!??
Today, being one such day, I wanted to treat myself with a fish fry. I love shallow fried fishes with loads of Indian Spices, back home which I miss here. Though I couldn’t get that variety of fishes here, I have satisfied myself by cooking the available fishes here with loads of Indian Spices. And Pan roasted Salmon in Indian style has been my favorite among other experiments. Clean fish, mix up all Indian spices and roasted in a pan for few minutes. Boom, that’s it – Indian Style roasted Salmon is ready to be served. Here it is!
Ingredients:
- 2-3 Salmon Fillets
- Oil for frying
-
For the marinade:
- 2 tablespoon Cooking Oil
- 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder, adjust according to your spice level
- 1/2 teaspoon Pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon Ginger Garlic paste
- ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder
- Juice of half lemon
- ½ teaspoon Salt
Method:
- Place the fillets, skin-side down in the heated pan and cook for about 2 minutes on each side for thinner fillets and an additional minute for thicker fillets, until they are browned and flaky. Salmon leaves so much oil, hence if you use a non-stick pan, oil is not needed for pan frying.
- Wash and clean salmon fillets
- In a bowl, mix all the ingredients to form a thick paste. If the paste is too thick, add few drops of lemon juice more.
- Coat the salmon fillet with marinade and let it stand for about 10 minutes
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat.
- If the fillets stick at the bottom, just add drops of cooking oil. Salmon cooks faster. Ensure not to overcook as it becomes rubbery.
- Serve pan roasted Salmon with balsamic Mushrooms and blanched broccoli.
