Koziar’s Christmas Village – A winter wonderland
The festive season is here. The months of November and December are fully decorated with vibrant lights, Christmas tree, and Snowmen. All the homes are decorated with Christmas lights. The entire family members gather around the table for Thanksgiving Dinner and celebrate the festivity with the whole family. And I know everyone, from kid to adult, enjoy the view of Christmas lights, decorated Christmas tree and finally a selfie with Santa.
How about visiting one of the top-rated Christmas Village this year? And if I say it’s in Pennsylvania, would you like to miss taking a ride through the village?
We visited Koziar’s village in Bernville last year and that was one of the fantasy drive through the Winter Wonderland. But then it took me a year to pin down about the village. Isn’t this time of the year, a perfect season to know about the Christmas Village?
Koziar Village is opened from Thanksgiving through December 31, every year. And I bet a single evening will not be enough to visit the entire village as it is vast. We started around evening and drove through the darkened country roads only to discover a Fairyland which is lit by more than 1000 lights adorning buildings, gift barns, and landscape. We reached earlier and waited for the village to open. We were dressed up for the winter, hence we could survive the cold evening. The village has entrance fees for adults around $10 and kids under 3 enter for free. The parking is free but I advise you to reach early to avail of free parking.
We started driving through the village and there were lights of all shades and shapes. The Christmas trees were decorated with vibrant red, yellow and blue colors. What really fascinated us it the history behind the village. William M. Koziar, the creator of the village, began decorating his home and the entire property in 1948 for his wife, Grace and his four children. Everyone around the home applauded and appreciated Koziar for the vibrant decorations of the home and called it “Christmas House”. Koziar started adding new lights, decorating lakes, barns and Christmas trees every year which later became Koziar Christmas Village. The village was awarded as the Top Ten Travel attractions in PA by the PA Travel Council.
There are major points inside the village which should be missed by anyone at any cost. We visited the Santa’s Post office and met Santa, like others, for a picture with him. The Kissing Bridge is the most beautiful part of the village and the bridge across the lake was decorated with vibrant blue colors. The lake in the center of the village was so beautiful with the reflection of the lights on the water.
We visited the Old Bakery shop and bought a Hershey Hot Cocoa to subside the coldness we experienced. There was a big queue in the shop as it was the only shop which sells hot beverages. Never forget to grab a cup of hot cocoa from the shop as it tastes divine and delicious. They do sell buttery cookies and other treats prepared in the country kitchen.
We then visited the Toyshop and I was amazed by the unique gifts for the festive season. The entire shop was like walking inside a wonderland loaded with gifts from Santa. They do see ornaments for the Christmas tree, souvenirs, and toys for the younger ones. Even if you didn’t have a plan of purchase, I am sure that you will end up in buying gifts for you and your loved ones.
We finally visited the miniature unique and handmade train platform near the refreshment barn. The miniature town was designed with utmost perfection and featured tunnels and trestles. The train takes you a ride through the entire town through tunnels and trestles.
We couldn’t enjoy the lights in the entire village because of the cold and hence we returned back around 10 PM. Ensure to plan an entire evening if you want to visit the major points in the village.
Hope the post gave you an insight about the top-rated Christmas Village. What are you waiting for? Plan a trip to the Christmas Village with your little ones and enjoy the festive season.
